    Day 2 Tues Amsterdam
Continental buffet breakfast in the hotel. Today we enjoy a guided tour to Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It was established in 1638 by the city municipality as Hortus Medicus, an herb garden with medical plants for Amsterdam doctors and pharmacists. In the second half of the 17th century, the Hortus Botanicus garden already established at its present address (since 1682), had a rich collection of plants completely unknown in Europe. They were brought here from all over the world by the traders of the Dutch East India Company (VOC). Today, Hortus Botanicus is a big and attractive botanical garden, with more than 6 000 different plants. Some of the plants are unique as 2000 years old agave cactus and a 300-year-old Eastern Kape giant cycad. The big new hothouse creates conditions for three different tropical climates. Rest of the afternoon is free to explore or relax.B

    Day 3 Wed Utrecht
Early morning Continental buffet breakfast at the hotel before we set out by touring coach to Aalsmeer where we visit the FloraHolland Aalsmeer flower auction, the largest trading centre for plants and flowers in the world. Experience the hustle and bustle of the auction floor, watch traders bidding against the clock and be amazed at the quantity of beautiful flowers traded daily from more than ten countries. Visitors are warmly welcomed. A unique experience you'll remember forever. After the flower auction we continue on to Leiden with free time to explore the town. This historic city will captivate you with its charm, its elegance, its friendliness and its hidden treasures. A visit to Leiden can be an enriching experience; it will stimulate your curiosity and invite you to take a look into its illustrious past, to enjoy its’ fascinating present and to look towards its promising future. The city is famous for its almshouses, university, museums and glorious history. The spirit of the Golden Age lives on here, a place where Rembrandt was born and inspired so many other influential painters. But even after this era Leiden continued to attract scientists, artists and industry. The canals, the historical buildings, the alleyways, the treasuries of knowledge, culture and science: Leiden is definitely worth seeing. We depart Leiden to travel on to Utrecht to join the canal cruise. Explore Utrecht from the water and you will be treated to an entirely different view. See the historic façades of wharf side houses, sculpted tableaux, and all kinds of impressive trees along the canals. At the end of the cruise we continue on to our hotel for overnight accommodation. Day 4 Thu Zwolle
A day rich with garden visits. We set off after breakfast in the morning in our touring coach for the trip to Appeltern to visit the De Tuinen van Appeltern Garden, an exhibition of garden design with over 150 model gardens. A walk through the 23-hectare park is an experience for all your senses. The quiet, the space and the nature ensure time well spent. Our coach then takes us to Otterlo, a small village in the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands. Here we visit De Hoge Veluwe National Park. The major attractions located in this pretty area of heath and woodlands include the Jachtslot St. Hubertus, an impressive Art Deco hunting lodge, and the Rijksmuseum Kröller-Müller, which features a rich cross-section of modern European art. It also includes a visit to Museonder, a fully underground museum, where it is possible to see the roots of a 135 year old tree. Lastly a guided tour to Het Loo Palace and Gardens, (The Woods Palace”), which was the residence of Queen Wilhelmina till her death in 1962. The Palaces of Het Loo served as a hunting lodge and summer residence of members of the House of Oranje, the current Dutch royal family. The former royal residence has been open to the public since 1984 after undergoing substantial restoration work. The reconstructed gardens breathe the atmosphere of their seventeenth century origin with their fountains and elegantly box-lined parterres. The palace’s setting in one of Holland’s most beautiful nature areas makes a visit a real delight at any time of year. Our coach takes us to Zwolle for our overnight accommodation. B

    Day 5 Fri Amsterdam
We set off this morning after breakfast to Gramsbergen for a visit to Ada Hofman’s Botanic Aquatic Garden, which can be found near the town of Enschede in the Netherlands. Approximately 30 show and theme gardens with 50 ponds are arranged around several large natural ponds. Together they form a large botanical aquatic garden which has been open to the public since 1988. The Asian-style roof garden with its pond is a unique feature. A 600 m2 roof garden has been laid out on top of Ada Hofman’s private apartment. From here there is a wonderful view over the aquatic garden and the private pond, which was created in 1994. There are further interesting theme gardens to be seen alongside the water-lily pond. Enjoy our Farewell Dinner this evening (included). B,D
